It is amazing how some places in the world draw you to them. For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to wanting to visit the UK and France. The first time I got the chance to visit both countries I remember feeling at home. The landscapes, culture, and food all drew me in, and I felt happy and peaceful.
A while ago I decided I wanted to know more about my ancestry. As such, I bought an Ancestry DNA kit determined to know more about where I came from. The thought was at the time to visit the countries that my ancestors came from.
The test itself was a very easy process. You can read more about my experience here. Yet one of the really interesting things about Ancestry DNA is that they continue to refine your results as they get more DNA tests submitted.
My previous results were 27% Europe West, 15% Ireland and Scotland, 11% Scandinavia, 11% Iberian Peninsula but my new results are dramatically more precise only a few months later.
My New Ancestry DNA Results
63% England, Wales and Northwestern Europe
26% Ireland and Scotland
9% France
2% Scandinavia
After seeing the updated results it only fuels my desire further see the areas my ancestors have come from. While I’ve toured most of Ireland and some of France I still need to explore Scotland, England and Norway.
If you are looking for a gift for a traveller like myself, the Ancestry DNA test is a great investment. I couldn’t be happier from the small fee I pay for the test.
