Sur-Lie Fine Food And Wine is a French-Canadian restaurant located in the Byward Market. The small 60 seat restaurant’s interior is a mix of a cozy neighbor bistro and a sophisticated fine dining restaurant, and it also offers a beautiful garden patio.
For lunch and dinner, you’ll find all the classic bistro dishes such as “steak frites”, duck confit and pasta. They also offer a daily 4-course blind tasting menu for $68 which you can add a wine pairing for another $30. Entrees range between $16-29 or you can instead opt for several sharing plates for the table ($9 to $90).
If you enjoy brunch, Sur-lie is worth the splurge. On the menu, you’ll find classics like a frittata, eggs benedict, french toast, and steak and eggs with prices between $15-18. Yet for a truly opulent way to start the day you can order the 3-course brunch tasting menu which is $40 and includes a glass of mimosa. Here the brunch will include one appetizer of your choice from the menu, one of the mains and dessert.
Everything about the dining experience was wonderful, and the food incredible. For $40 the brunch made for a long and leisurely way to gather with friends and enjoy bite after bite of delicious food. After such a memorable meal, I’m excited to try the dinner tasting menu next.
Sur-Lie offers brunch on both Saturday and Sunday, and it is best to make a reservation ahead of time.
