My Dog Sledding Adventure In Montebello

An hour drive from Ottawa, you can go on an unforgettable adventure dog sledding around Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello. Chateau Montebello is the world’s largest log cabin and makes the perfect setting to tour via dog sled.

Dog sledding tours are available on a first-come basis, so you need to purchase your ticket upon arriving from the ticket booth next to the teepee just in front of Chateau Montebello. The cost is $33 per adult and $16.50 per child for the 3.9km ride with a guide.

Nestled under a warm blanket, the dogs will pull the sleigh around the beautiful snow-covered landscape. The tour lasted 15 minutes and made for an unforgettable adventure.

As an avid fan of huskies, I was thrilled to meet the dogs that worked on the team to pull the sleigh, and even had the opportunity to help attach the dogs to the sleigh. Later upon returning from the 3.9km tour I also got to spend a few minutes playing with the dogs which were clearly happy from their run.

Going dog sledding is a perfect way to spend a winter afternoon. No matter if you are staying at the hotel or just visiting Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello for the day, the dog sledding tour is available for everyone. I highly recommend following up your dog sled tour by warming up inside Chateau Montebello beside the massive fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and following up the day with another one of the many winter activities you can do on the grounds such as tubing, skating, snowshoeing or going for a sleigh ride.
