Located 35 minutes outside of Ottawa, Cannamore Orchard is the perfect spot to visit this fall. For the second year, Cannamore Orchard is offering an escape maze until October 29th, 2017. This year there is a brand new maze, and you can up to 8 people on your team.
In addition to all their spooky wagon ride, mazes and other Halloween themed sights that are part of their acres of terror, Cannamore Orchard offers a temporary escape maze that you need to try!
This year the theme is to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, so the maze takes place at the time of Confederation. With your team, you need to solve the murder mystery and convict the correct murder and escape the maze before your time runs out.
Right off the bat, the room won me over with small details. For example, instead of using a radio to call in for help as typically done in other escape rooms, to be period correct, here for clues you write a letter and mail it in for help. Without giving anything away, the rooms are wonderfully designed, with the first room being my particular favourite it was so cleverly done. One of the main features of the maze is the lack of light, so we must rely on lanterns to navigate the mazes between the rooms or to find the clues which add unique challenges as you need to work together to share the light sources.
In the end, after you’ve gathered the clues and made it to the end of the escape room, you need to decide who convicted the murder. Get it wrong, and you don’t successfully escape the room. I highly enjoyed this extra layer of challenge, as at the end we had navigated to the end, but had to double-check our clues to make sure we selected the murder to succeed.
The escape room primarily on weekends, and is $100 to do the room for the first 4 people (a group of 2 people is still $100), and $25 for each additional person.
If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your friends this fall you won’t regret trying the Cannamore Orchard escape maze. Currently, the maze has a 24% success rate, so it does offer a serious challenge. If you happen to be one of the first 300 people to escape you will also walk away with a reward from D’Arcy McGee’s Pub in Orleans!
