La Machine Takes Over Ottawa

From July 27-30th La Machine made its debut in North America where a robot dragon and spider roamed around downtown Ottawa. Over the 4 days, the Ottawa 2017 event attracted 750,000 people to the once in a lifetime spectacular event that captivated the city.

The story is that Long Ma the spirit of the dragon-horse watched over humanity, but the malicious Kumo the spider burned his wings and stole his temple. Ever since Long Ma has searched the earth for his temple.

Here in Ottawa, the story started on Thursday with Kumo the spider residing near Mama the giant spider statue next to the National Gallery of Canada. Over 4 days the Long Ma and Kumo roam downtown Ottawa in the Long Ma’s attempt to recover his temple.

At set times throughout the 4 days, Kumo and Long Ma would roam the city accommodated by a small orchestra that followed them providing the music to the event. From young children to seniors everyone I saw was mesmerized as the fantasy scene unfolded.

From the spider spraying the crowd with water to the fire-breathing dragon-horse the robots special effects were stunning and the free event exceeded even my high expectations with how well done it was.
