If you are searching for a fun way to celebrate the holiday season while practicing social distancing, you need to visit The Magic Of Lights In Ottawa. Located in Wesley Clover Parks, you can see over one million lights while staying warm in your vehicle. This winter, it runs from November 13, 2020, to January 9, 2021.
Inside you’ll drive along the winding road and visit multiple themed areas. There is a section with toys, the Nativity scene, the ten days of Christmas, construction, fantasy creatures and more.
Some of the illuminations are outlines of shapes, but many have small animations like a dragon breathing fire or deers that appear to jump over your vehicle.
But some areas will take your breath away, like the snowy themed section, with dripping icicles, or the two tunnels of light. In the future, I hope they add more areas like this, as it was by far the most dazzling.
Without question, the main attractions are the tunnels of light at the end. The tunnels alone make it worth a visit.
From the starting gate to the exit, it took me just under 30 minutes. At no point when visiting are you allowed to stop or exit your car to take a photo.
Tickets are $20 per vehicle and can be purchased online. Friday and Saturday nights are busy, so you’ll need to expect to have a long wait to get in. But the rest of the week, you’ll be able to enter much faster.
My visit to the Magic Of Lights took close to 1 hour and 20 minutes to get inside. I didn’t mind waiting, as I planned and had a giant holiday flavoured coffee.
