Enjoy a charming horse-drawn sleigh ride tour around the grounds of Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, which is just 1 hour outside of Ottawa. On your 45-minute sleigh ride over the snow-covered grounds of the world’s largest wood chalet, you can keep warm under a blanket as you take in the scenery.
Reservations for the sleigh ride are required and run on Saturdays offered by Les Écuries Montebello Stable. Tickets cost $26 for adults and are available for guests staying at day visitors or guests of the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello.
The sleigh ride starts from the back of the hotel, but if you have difficulty finding the location you can ask the hotel’s front desk for a map.
For my sleigh ride, it was powered by two gorgeous Clydesdale horses that I had the pleasure of meeting prior to the tour of the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello.
The sleigh ride can fit up to 20 people, with there being plenty of space and blankets for everyone to keep warm under.
As part of the ride, you will get to learn about the local history of the various buildings on the grounds, and enjoy the splendid landscape of lush evergreens the fill the property.
I highly recommend booking your sleigh ride for a magical afternoon activity while at the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello. I suggest following up your sleigh ride with a visit to the hot tub to warm up or a hot chocolate next to the grand fireplace in the hotel’s lobby to warm up.
