If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel in Vienna, Austria you need to stay at the Motel One Wien-Staatsoper. Despite having the name ‘motel,’ it couldn’t be further from a budget hotel. Motel One is a chain of hotels found in Europe known for being affordable and feeling like a boutique hotel.
When you visit Vienna, the best location for a hotel is in the downtown core (Innere Stadt), which is close to the majority of the sights. I opted for the Motel One Wien-Staatsoper in Vienna as it was just across the street from the Opera House and only a few minutes walk from all the attractions I wanted to see. Plus the price was hundreds of Euros less than the nearby hotels!

You can get a room at the Motel One Wien-Staatsoper for ~$120 (81 euros), while the majority of the in that area range for $260-550 a night! Of course, I was a bit skeptical about the quality of the hotel because the price was so much lower, but I decided to test my luck and book a stay.
It turns out the Motel One Wien-Staatsoper in Vienna blew me away with the high quality of the hotel. It felt like a 5-star hotel, but the price point was so low! The room was massive with extra tall ceilings, a plush bed, and a large window. I loved how when you come in the tv looks like a fireplace, with a crackling fire sound. It made the room feel extra cozy. The bathroom was modern, had a nice shower too.
Meanwhile, the service at the hotel was fantastic too! I was quickly checked in to my room (earlier than the check-in time, for no extra charge). They also provided tons of help in giving me directions to nearby sights.
When I booked my room, I opted to include breakfast, which is well worth it. There was a massive assortment of items to pick from, including lots of gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan options too. I loved the fancy coffee I could make to go with my breakfast.
I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t love about my time at this hotel! It was close enough that I could walk to it from the train station (after taking the shuttle from the airport), the food is terrific, the decor is the perfect blend of old-world grandeur with playful references to music and dance on the main floor. If you love chandeliers as much as I do, the lobby is also filled with some stunning light fixtures!
After such a positive stay, I’m going to choose to stay at Motel One hotels whenever I can. If you are planning on visiting Vienna, do yourself a favour and enjoy a stay at Motel One, you won’t regret it.
