Wellington Street West is one of my favourite areas in Ottawa, in particular for the amazing restaurants. This time when visiting the area I stopped by at Nectar Fine Teas to do afternoon tea with a friend.
The interior of the tea house is very cozy with only 4 tables that can seat 2 people it is important to make reservations for your afternoon tea.
For the first course of the afternoon tea, we were served a refreshing mint fruit bowl of honeydew, grapes, and kiwi.
Next, we had a small cup, of delicious carrot ginger soup.
The tea service also includes a pot of loose leaf tea which is beautifully served in intricate china cups.
Lastly, we received our classic three-tiered tray which had 4 mini sandwiches per person including a wonderful wasabi egg salad sandwich that had a nice bit of a kick to it.
The second tier of the tray had 2 flaky scones that were accompanied with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
For dessert, there was a tangy lemon curd tart and a decedent matcha chocolate truffle.
I highly enjoyed my experience as the staff was very attentive and friendly. While this was my first time visiting I’ve heard the menu items are always the exact same for afternoon tea with the only slight change being there are a few types of soups they rotate between serving.
If you are looking for a leisurely way to spend the afternoon with a friend, Nectar Fine Teas offers one of the most affordable afternoon tea services in Ottawa.
