A Night At Le Saint Pierre Auberge Distinctive

For the second part of my stay in Quebec City, I switched hotels from Hotel 71 to its sister hotel Le Saint Pierre Auberge Distinctive which is located right next door and connected on the main floor. Le Saint Pierre Auberge Distinctive is a cozy 31 room boutique hotel located in Quebec City that is rated by TripAdvisor to be one of the top 25 hotels in Canada.

Le Saint Pierre is located in a 19th-century heritage building, The Quebec Fire Insurance Company, which was the first insurance company in Canada, was located in the old financial district that used to be the “Wall Street of Canada”.

LOCATION

Located right in the historic district Saint Pierre, was one of the first boutique hotels to open in Quebec City. Directly across the street is the Quebec City Civilization Museum, while the Chateau Frontenac is only a 5-minute walk away. Located in the most beautiful section of Quebec City that is popular with tourists there are many outstanding restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel.

MY STAY

Throughout my stay at the Saint Pierre Hotel, I was dazzled by how warm and helpful the staff were in helping me have the best experience possible. In particular, the hotel’s concierge who is a member of Les Clefs d’Or Canada was outstanding help in arranging restaurant reservations or suggesting sights to see.

The sitting room off the lobby was warm and cozy, with a large fireplace, stain glass windows and a plush fur blanket that you could enjoy while reading one of the books available on the bookcase in the room while sipping a cup of coffee from the Keurig right next to the sofa.

As you explore the hotel, you will notice it puts an emphasis on proudly displaying beautiful Canadian art on all available wall space.

I stayed in a classic room that had two double beds, a desk and two armchairs underneath a large window that looked onto the Museum of Civilization.

The decor of the hotel is more traditional, focusing on cozy and comfortable finishings. The beds also feature ultra-luxurious sheets and duvets that are so comfortable that I bought a set at Hotel 71 to bring home with me as I loved the bedding so much.

Upon arriving at the hotel I was greeted with a tray of heavenly gourmet chocolate truffles on each bed.

The rooms featured high ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed copper piping above the windows and black and white photographs done by a local artist.

The small bathroom was packed with luxuries, such as cotton bathrobes, L’Occitane products, and a jacuzzi tub.

The assorted L’Occtaine products in the bathroom

The room also came with a Keurig machine and coffee pods

Included with the hotel stay is a full breakfast at the downstairs restaurant.

Much like the rest of the hotel, wood panelling, and beautiful artwork cover the walls to add a richness to the room.

The breakfast options were all spectacular and tasty, I went for one of my favourite breakfast choices eggs benedict with smoked salmon which was divine.

Pictured above is another one of the amazing breakfast options included, waffles with strawberries, whip cream, fresh fruit, and maple syrup. Yum!

My sister and I after an amazing breakfast, ready to explore the city.

THE VERDICT

The hotel Saint Pierre Auberge Distinctive is packed with character and timeless decor with a delicious free large breakfast and friendly service. The outstanding customer service truly made my stay here exceptional. Upon staying at both Saint Pierre and Hotel 71 my sister and I were split on which we preferred, both stays were exceptional, so the deciding factor came down to decor style. If you are looking for more modern hotel pick Hotel 71 but if you want a more old world hotel that matches more with the character of the historic district of Quebec City, Saint Pierre is the hotel for you. Either option is exceptional.
