Less than 2 years after opening their first macaron shop on Montreal road, Quelque Chose Patisserie has now opened a second location in Westboro. Quelque Chose Patisserie specializes in French macarons and has been one of my favourite sweet shops in Ottawa since it opened, and was delighted to visit their new boutique.
Julia the pastry chef and owner, studied in Paris under Pierre Hermé one of the most famous pastry chefs in France. Pierre Hermé also happens to make some of the best macarons in the world, and you can notice Julia’s mastery in the art of macarons the moment you bite into one of her desserts.
When visiting Quelque Chose Patisserie be warned there are so many outstanding flavours it might take you a while to pick which ones you want to try. Currently, they have the following flavours of macaron: passion fruit and milk chocolate, pina colada, pistachio, raspberry and dark chocolate, rose, orange and dark chocolate, Nutella, brownie, cappuccino, early grey and milk chocolate, lemon and poppy seeds, matcha tea, jasmine tea, cinnamon and coconut, salted caramel, dulce de leche, s’mores, strawberries and cream, vanilla, tiramisu, and coconut.
One special feature about the Westboro location is they also offer afternoon tea which comes with sandwiches, pastries, scones, croissants, macarons and your choice of tea. If you wish to have afternoon tea, make sure to contact Quelque Chose Patisserie at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation, or reserve online on their website as you cannot drop in for the high tea.
As macarons are one of my favourite desserts I sampled many of the flavours, all of which were divine. One of my top picks would have to be the coconut and cinnamon macaron.
Inside the boutique, it is very relaxing and it is the perfect place to grab a coffee and have some dessert.
