Instead of flowers, you can surprise your Valentine with a box of cupcakes. Riyas Bakery in Ottawa makes the best cupcakes you’ve ever tasted, and you can even get some that look like roses.
For those of you searching for a Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day gift idea, Riyas Bakery baked goods are sure to be a hit.
I’m someone that usually avoids cupcakes. I find the frosting is often painfully sweet, the ratio of icing to cake way off, and often the cake at best just okay.
At first, I tried one of the cupcakes because it was pretty, and I wanted to support a local small business. Yet after quickly devouring the first cake, I was debating eating another right away – something I’ve never considered in my life. They were just that good.
The chocolate cake was moist, without being overly dense. Meanwhile, the buttercream icing wasn’t too sweet, it has the right amount of subtle flavour and creaminess. Together it made for a winning combination that brought a massive smile to my face.
They not only tasted extraordinary but looked stunning too. In my box of six, three were expertly piped roses. The other half had a mini rose and eye-catching gold dust.
Hands-down you need to try them, so make sure to get your order in.
