Located within the stunning Francois Premier Hotel, in the city of Cognac, Bar Louise offers classes for those wishing to learn more about the world-famous brandy. The newly renovated bar is a stylish spot, that offers a wide range of cognac from all the local producers, making it the perfect spot to relax and try a cocktail.
As someone who had never had cognac before, I was curious to learn more about the spirit, so I signed up for a workshop with Konoisseur that took place Bar Louise. For your class, you can arrange for a workshop in cocktail making and/or tasting spirits which will be offered at Bar Louise that can be done in English.
For my 1 hour workshop, I worked on mastering cocktail making and improving my skills at cognac tasting. To help me develop my palate, my first challenge was to identify which beverage was cognac, rum, and whiskey from 3 samples poured to me. Through knowing what both whiskey and rum tasted like, I was able to correctly select the cognac in the lineup. I found this activity fun and was a marvellous introduction to help me learn more about cognac.

Next, I focused on cocktail making using cognac. For this part of the class, I was able to watch the bartender create two cocktails using cognac, and had to reproduce the drinks which I was able to enjoy after making them. As someone who has never taken a cocktail workshop before I loved this experience.
If you are in Cognac, I strongly recommend signing up for a workshop at Bar Louise. In one hour I went from not knowing what cognac tasted like, to being able to identify some of the cognac’s major flavour profiles. Walking away from the experience I know I’ll be able to utilize all the useful techniques I gained about cocktail making, but I feel much more knowledgeable about Cognac and the various producers too.
