The former Hotel Indigo has been relaunched as the independently-owned Metcalfe Hotel. The newly renovated boutique hotel has had all the public areas updated with a focus on communal seating in an inviting atrium area with leather sofas, beautiful wood table workspaces, and Edison light bulb chandeliers.
Located at the corner of Metcalfe Street and Laurier Avenue the hotel is conveniently located a few blocks away from Parliament Hill and next to major transit.
The atrium is a gorgeous space with the tall ceilings keeping the room feeling bright and spacious. Instead of working in my room, I found myself like many of the other hotel guests, drawn to working at one of the two large tables in the communal space.
If you were looking to relax the atrium also has several leather sofas, and there is a massive bookcase with books that you could enjoy reading.
While working or lounging in the communal space in the hotel, there was a small stand where you could help yourself to infused water which was such a lovely feature.
If you are looking to relax or workout, the Metcalfe Hotel shares a pool and gym with the hotel next door the Residence Inn by Marriott.
The Room
I stayed in a classic room, which had a queen bed, an arm chair, and desk. The room was comfortable, and the bathroom provided a luxurious spa-like shower head.
While the public spaces renovations are complete the next phase of renovations at the Metcalfe Hotel will be the hotel rooms and the rendered images of what the new rooms will very modern and glamorous. The bedrooms will instead feature dramatic dark patterned walls, keeping to a more monochrome palate. While the bathroom will be updated to feel more open with large mirrors and airy shower spaces.
It is very exciting to see the updates to the new Metcalfe Hotel. Judging by how beautiful and well designed the lobby is of the hotel, I’m certain the new rooms will be the ultimate posh boutique hotel room that travelers will adore.
